New Chess

Because I am sensing a cold shoulder from Hollywood and movie making in general, I am working or playing on some new ideas for just self-entertainment. I enjoyed playing chess on computers and in-person in childhood mostly. Now I am designing my own pieces and board(s) for at home use. I may make something available online via special purchase. Design work is taking place in Blender 3D and I have prototype pieces 3D printed for review, usually in a common inexpensive plastic or Nylon.

I am not re-writing the rules of chess, but it is inspiring me to think of new games or an attempt to create a new game using the same checker board.

Legend of the Swords

Just an at-home gaming project I am playing with. As surely as some people build their own models of planes or cars for a shelf, I CREATE stuff for fun. Likely I’ll register it when I’ve written enough notes. Just a game. I am a fan of Highlander and many sword-based movies. I even spent minor time on Pirates of the Caribbean.. the ride and movie locations with J. Depp. One of the first movies with swords I got to visit was Hook with Robin Williams. This may or may not be a future commercial game, but at minimum I’ll create it for myself.

I played many board games in childhood as well as video games. Some people do that their whole lives. Collecting, trading board games and video games. As surely as writers have read a lot, some gamers create their own games for entertainment. Some know I contributed to some successful gaming franchises, but I never made money on them. I got exposure to them and skills in development. May be why I have kept the nickname “Lusor”. It means “gamer” in Latin.

If you really want some jazz on screen with swords… maybe check out Game of Thrones or some History Channel docudramas? Also, I recommend Kurosawa movies. I watched those quite a bit in childhood. I wasn’t into killing people, but the choreography fascinated me because some of it was profound.

AMBLIN Ink

Well, in all fairness I did know some of the original Amblin people and I was a contributor to some major IPs even if people voluntarily or are forced to deny this. I obtained “Amblin, Inc.” almost a year ago and PER AGREEMENT with one of the attorneys I cannot use the name for motion picture related. So, I’m not. Introducing, “Amblin Ink”, my little web page with 3D design work. I’ve only gotten started, and… it looks like just hobby stuff. The powers in Hollywood are still trying to keep me retired-looking so I’ll just share objects as I complete them well enough.

Bitter the Snowman?

Or.. Bitters… or Bitter Cold the Snowman? I’m crafting a holiday story about an anti-Frosty the Snowman. I know, it sounds really dumb. Honestly, there has been so much angst and evil and sadness this year in my life I just want to leave it for a while and BE in another story! My character may not walk past in it, but I’ll just write it, get my mind off things. Because why not. Use our creativity to save ourselves from depression or sitting around watching tv?

Boom! The sound of thunder, and lightning to follow. I posted the first part of the story on my blog web site. I should be able to finish it before Thanksgiving this year.
